The sweet-tart flavor can be altered to suit your own taste. It complements the flavors of Hoppin' John. Put the raisins and wine or juice in a small bowl and soak for at least 1 hour. Put the apples, walnuts, sugar, cinnamon, and soaked raisins, and liquid in a blender or food processor and pulse to combine. The texture should be slightly chunky, so be careful not to over process.
