Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method

1/2 cup raisins

3 tablespoons dry red wine or apple juice

2 green apples -- peeled

cored and chopped

1/2 cup chopped walnuts

1 tablespoon packed brown sugar

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

 

Makes about 2 1/2 cups

 

This chutneylike seder relish is delicious any time of the year. The

sweet-tart flavor can be altered to suit your own taste. It complements

the flavors of Hoppin' John.

 

Put the raisins and wine or juice in a small bowl and soak for at least 1

hour. Put the apples, walnuts, sugar, cinnamon, and soaked raisins, and

liquid in a blender or food processor and pulse to combine. The texture

should be slightly chunky, so be careful not to over process. Transfer to

a small bowl and refrigerate until serving time.
