Guest guest Posted June 23, 2001 Report Share Posted June 23, 2001 * Exported from MasterCook * Nutty Green Leaf Lettuce and Orange Salad Recipe By :Peak of the Market Serving Size : 10 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : New Import Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- DRESSING: 1/2 cup vegetable oil 3 tablespoons red wine vinegar or balsamic vinegar 1 tablespoon lemon juice 2 teaspoons sugar 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard 1 garlic clove -- crushed SALAD: 2 tablespoons butter 1/2 cup shelled sunflower seeds 1/2 cup slivered almonds 1 head green or red leaf lettuce 2 green onions -- finely chopped 10 ounces canned mandarin oranges -- drained 1 ripe avocado -- peeled, sliced Combine dressing ingredients in a jar, shake to blend. Heat butter in frying pan and saute sunflower seeds and almonds until golden brown. Prepare remaining ingredients and place in salad bowl. Add cooled seeds and almonds. Toss with dressing just before serving. Serves 8 to 10.
