Rice Mushroom Pilaf

Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method

2 teaspoons McKay’s Chicken-Style Seasoning -- or bouillon powder

1 cup hot water

1 cup uncooked rice

1 large onion -- chopped

1/2 green bell pepper -- chopped

3 ounces canned undrained sliced mushrooms

1 dash savory seasoning

salt to taste

1/2 cup slivered almonds

 

Dissolve seasoning in hot water.

 

Combine remaining ingredients, reserving some almonds to garnish top.

 

Pour into a 9 " x 13 " baking dish. Bake at 350°F for one hour. Stir once or twice

while baking. Rice should be crispy and brown. Garnish with almonds. Serve hot.

 

Serves: 6. Calories per serving: 185; protein: 4.7 grams; carbohydrate: 30

grams; fat: 5.3 grams; cholesterol: 0 milligrams.

 

 

TIP - The recipe requires " savory seasoning " which could mean leaf savory or

mixed herbs as in " savory seasoningS " --kp
