Trim the beans and break them into bite-size pieces. Steam until just tender. Heat the oil in a large nonstick skillet, and saute the onion and almonds for 5 minutes. Lower the heat, add the vinegar, and continue cooking, stirring often, until the onions are caramelized and the almonds browned, about 10 minutes. Stir in the soy sauce and the steamed green beans.
