Guest guest
I was wondering if anyone has given an Omega 3/DHA supplement to their children. How do you give it to young children (4 years)? Does anyone have any brand preference? I have to order it online as we live in Australia and it's not available. Any advice on this subject much appreciated, thank you, Naomi.
Guest guest
Aside from drinking ³Silk plus DHA² soymilk, we use Spectrum Essentials¹ ³Flax Oil w/ DHA² (plant-sourced DHA) in our smoothies, added to salad (yes, I¹m so excited; our 4y.o. dd JUST started wanting salads like us and added to spaghetti sauce after it cools. Not sure if you can get it mail order, as it needs to stay refrigerated. We tried an oral vegan drop, and it was absolutely disgusting! I felt like I was drinking fish. Guest guest
I suggest that you try to put it in their regular food as much as possible... For example, my guys love a tofu-chocolate pudding, where I use flaxseed oil for the oil called for in the recipe (from Tofu Cookery, by Louise Hagler)--no heating involved, just blended, and delicious! I live in Brazil--lots of great US veg products unavailable here...have to be creative. Good luck! Guest guest
Hi, As Naomi is in Australia, can I suggest the Melrose brand products. As well as flax oils, they also produce a great table spread that we have started using instead of margarine - you can get the Omega Care 3 Table Spread - canola and flaxseed oils, or the Omega Care Blend Table Spread - sunflower, flaxseed and olive oils - both products are claimed to be high in Omega 3, 6 and 9. An easy way of getting the Omega fatty acids into children, as you just spread on bread as a margarine. My children also enjoy flax oil on their cereal - they know no other way!
