Guest guest
Hi Mary Ann, I I would LOVE it if you could list some of your ideas!! You said you had a million of them and I'm a few short : ) I have two boys and one is allergic to what seems like almost everything! They are very active so they have a high metabolism. We eat a lot of beans and nuts. I can accommodate most recipes by substituting, however, I cannot use any citrus, onion, garlic, avocado, or celery and have not figured out how to substitute these : ) It would be great if you could share some ideas! Thanks! Kim Posted by: " Mary Ann Grimm " masgrimm Thu Sep 13, 2007 7:40 pm (PST) Dear Robin, I have a million ideas...but granted, it depends on what you want for your child (is she skinny and needs extra calories, is she a vegan, what are her likes and dislikes). My suggestion is to ask her what she craves in the morning and go from there. My daughter wanted something sweet and crunchy. She loves toasted bagels with vegan cream cheese and fresh in season fruits on top. It is very easy to do (about five minutes) and no mess! We put nuts in the " cream cheese. " Also, as a staple, we have oatmeal that we add fruit, " yogurt " with fresh fruit and a granola bar, and just about any cereal (that doesn't have high fructose corn syrup) sprinkled on top! There are endless vegan and veggie choices! Check out your local library and used book store for more ideas. I found a great deal of info from the " Friends " used book store in Wheaton, MD. Guest guest
Hi Kim, You can substitute onion and garlic by using Asafoeteda powder which you can buy in Indian spice stores. I am a Hare Krishna and for spiritual reasons we don't eat onion and garlic and just replace it with this spice when the recipes requires it. I hope this helps!
