Guest guest
In keeping with the theme of Earth day, here is a fun website. The Great Turtle Race www.greatturtlerace.com . The race starts today (Monday, Apr. 16) It's not too late to signup but registration is not necessary to follow the race. This international conservation event involves 11 leatherback turtles that are " racing " toward feeding areas south of the Galapagos Islands. Pick your favorite of these endangered animals and follow its progress, as tracked by satellite, from April 16 to April 29. If you register, they will send you updates on your turtle, but you can go to the site for the info and replay the entire race each day. We went back and forth while checking emails and our turtle moved from 7th to 3rd place. Very exciting for the little one!! Of course, these turtles have been tagged. That may be unacceptable for some in the group. I hope to show DD that we can learn a lot about wildlife in their own habitat without the need to put them in zoos. The Beluga Whale incident last summer has certainly left an impression upon her. If this is up your alley, enjoy, Carrol
