Guest guest
Hi, We are in Westchester NY, quite a ways from you both, but wanted to say hello anyway. I've been lucky to have met a neighbor who is vegan, totally by chance we each have a daughter the same age. Since I'm vegetarian, and she's vegan, she has helped me a lot as I ask her about the next step for replacements foods. She got me to use the EnergE egg replacement, and cook with Tofu, instead of so many meat substitutes. It's nice to have a friend to help as I move to the next step of each day on my journey. Thanks too, to this wonderful group! What a wonderful place to find refuge and support when you feel that everything is going against you. And as this is a parent group, that the folks here understand the other pressures and daily exhuastion of being responsible for another life. Thanks! Janeen crkotzin wrote: Dear Leena, I'm glad that you are so supported in Rochester, but that's not the only experience in western NY. I live less than 2 hours from you in Buffalo. This is also a mid size city, probably bigger, but there is quite a lot of antipathy if not hostility to vegetarianism here - the home of (boo) Buffalo chicken wings. Indeed, I tried to start a vegan/vegetarian children's group so my son does not feel so different. I got **two** replies and one from a vegetarian father who insisted that it was wrong to bring up a child as a vegetarian because of brain development and protein issues. The other was from a woman who wanted fish and chicken (??!!!) included with the remit of the group because her child has lots of allergies. My son also has lots of allergies (my recent email with the long list was actually not posted) but I am still trying to keep him vegetarian/vegan though it is hard and I have 30 years experience as a vegetarian. Needless to say - the group is not yet going. I cannot find any vegetarian community with children in the Buffalo /suburbs. Please reply if anyone's in Buffalo! best again Chana _crkotzin_ (crkotzin)

**************************************
AOL now offers free email to everyone.
