Guest guest
Kadee, That is wonderful that you found wonderful caring folks there. I've been Seventh Day Adventist all of my life and the health message is such an important part of our way of life. We encourage a Vegetarian diet and all of our potlucks worldwide are vegetarian. I've always been vegetarian, because of our faith and my parents commitment to providing a very positive roll model for this healthy way of eating. I have never been tempted to eat meat. We just had a social tonight, called " Pizza Dinner and a Movie " at church. We had all kinds of Vegetarian homemade Pizza's, salads, desserts and then watched the movie, Facing the Giants. That is such a powerful and wonderful movie. I highly recommend it. My church family has been such a great support for me in a vegetarian lifestyle. They are such a warm and friendly group of folks. I know they were delighted to have your family there and I'm sure they hope you will become friends and come back and join them anytime or all the time. You and your family are most welcome always. I'm glad you had such a great unexpectedly wonderful day. I am proud of you for taking a chance and going there today. Spontaneity opens many doors and I highly recommend it. You miss out on so many opportunities in life, when you don't welcome doing something on the spur of the moment like this. We have been looking for a church since we moved here in July, and we were on our way today to a neat grocery store we wanted a few things from when we saw a Seventh Day Adventist church. We went in, and everyone was so friendly. They were having a meal afterwards, and I asked if it was vegetarian-friendly. The whole meal was!!!! Everything!! There were about a million and fifty different things, and I ran out of room on my plate before I could get a little of everything. It was all sooooo good! They have a meal after church every week, always vegetarian!!! I ate waaaaaay too much, and best of all we met some very nice people who are also vegetarians. They sat with us and they seem like really nice people. We swapped phone numbers and I was so glad to meet them. My husband even knew a guy there, they'd worked together not long ago. Such a neat day!! .
Guest guest
I know there was a SDA church in the town I grew up in, but by golly we were Baptist and nothing else would do! Not that anything is wrong with Baptists, my mom just kind of thought we would be traitors for going anywhere else. I sure wish I'd have known about this when I was 13 and just became a vegetarian. I did not meet another vegetarian in person till I was 18!!! We'll definitely be going back. I love food. I'm completely in love with food, actually (which is why I weigh a few pounds more than I should!!). It's nice to be able to share food with other people without having to keep my eyes directly on both children or be harassed by people who believe that I should be feeding the kids meat. We used to get that all the time at the church I grew up at. Jeff and I would go visit and after a while we just stopped going to anything food-related because of it. But oh well, this is really neat to have other people " like us " . :) wwjd <jtwigg wrote: Kadee, That is wonderful that you found wonderful caring folks there.
