Guest guest
Does a solar oven work like a dehydrator? We're trying to move away from eating mostly " dead " foods and purchased a great dehydrator from Excalibur and are loving it! - veganlinda Tuesday, January 30, 2007 12:59 PM Solar Ovens was Re: to microwave or not to microwave? We got rid of the microwave when we got rid of the TV (about 8 years ago). We love not having a microwave and feel we tend to eat a lot better without it. We don't rely on processed foods as much (we also had our children in that timeframe so maybe we would have done this regardless). We do have toaster oven though. Most left overs are easy to reheat on the stove or in the oven or eat cold (I'm lazy if it is just me eating it). We are looking into a solar oven, speaking of the environmental aspect of things. Does anyone have one? Is there a brand you prefer? What is your experience? Thanks! Linda
Guest guest
It can but it doesnt have to. With a good solar oven you can bake bread, cook veggies, cook rice, just about anything if you have the time to wait and good sun exposure (you could even cook meat if you weren't vegetarian). I have some literature at home from a demonstration that I went to once. I'll see if I can find it and e- mail the brand, which was a little expensive but very good for cooking with. , <admartin5 wrote: > > Does a solar oven work like a dehydrator? Guest guest
There's a show called " Living with Ed " on HGTV. It's about actor Ed Begley and his wife. He's an ultra environmentalist and she is just " normal " . The show is pretty funny and also informative. He has a solar oven and he was cooking lentils in it. Probably takes awhile! They are also vegetarian. One show was about Ed wanting to get another solar oven. His wife doesn't use it and hates the way it looks and takes up a lot of room in the back yard. I think it would be fun to have one Tracy On Jan 31, 2007, at 6:16 AM, smartgirl27us wrote: > It can but it doesnt have to.
