Guest guest
I haven't seen any mention of this here, so I'm bringing it to everyone's attention. Peter Roberts is the main person responsible for getting veal crates banned in the UK (which is being expanded soon to the entire EU). He worked tirelessly on behalf of farm animals' rights. He realized early on that getting them reclassified from " agricultural products " to " sentient beings " was the key to change. He died on the 15th of November. Here is an obit from the Guardian....in addition, if you can access it (via Google), the Economist has a really detailed obit. http://www.guardian.co.uk/animalrights/story/0,,1954843,00.html I don't know when exactly he became a vegetarian, but Mr. Roberts founded the organization Compassion in World Farming in 1967. Guest guest
What an interesting and inspiring read. It is sad to lose such a powerful voice and I can't help but think what a wonderful way to use your life. I, for one, am grateful. Thanks Liz, for passing this on.
