Guest guest
Hey all....I have to contribute a little personal experience on this subject. I'm only 25....I was on Birth Control for around 4 years. I have NO genetic issues or blood factors, and I do not smoke, and I lead a very healthy and active lifestyle. Yet because of the BC I almost died 6 months ago. I developed a blood clot in my leg that broke loose and travelled into my lungs. Technically, a DVT and pulmonary embellism. It was very scary! I just now got off of the coumadin therapy, and was going for shots 2x a day at the hospital, after spending a week there etc...and thousands of dollars on top of that. You don't have to be a woman smoker over 35 to be at risk for clots. And clots kill people all the time, and every hormone therapy makes you more prone to clots. That being said, so does pregnacy! Ha! 17 times more likely. (Yes I'm a mom and I plan on doing it again) But, I have 3 herniated discs in my lower back, and just found out I have another herniated disc in my neck, and my neuro found white dots all over my brain. So I'm getting a spinal tap to check for MS and lots of blood work......yikes....I'm way to young for all this!!! Anyway...be careful with any medications...get checked frequently, don't just rely on your doctors, be proactive!! No one cares for you like you do!! (I'm on 8 meds and I hate it, but I'm doing what I can and hopefully I'll get off of them) I've lost over 120 lbs. now so far!! Here's to everyone's health, and good luck getting through the rest of the holidays!! ~Jennifer Skopecek~ ______________________________\ ____ Everyone is raving about the all-new Mail beta. http://new.mail. Guest guest
I'm sorry all that happened, I'm glad you caught it in time. It's kind of a lose/lose thing, isn't it? Take the pills, take the risks. Don't take the pills and you have to use a less effective form of birth control. I hope everything is all right with the blood work and spinal tap. I've been reading up on this ablation thing, I'm such a chicken but I think a combination of that and poor Jeff getting a vasectomy will be the best thing for us. I must say that would be nice, not having to remember that silly pill every morning. Then of course Jeff would be mad at me for the rest of his life! As sad as he was for our mouse when we had him neutered, I think I will put a paper sack over his head if he has a vasectomy. He makes the saddest little faces. Guest guest
One of our friends and three of his buddies had a vasectomy party. They rented a limo, went to the doctor, and all were " snipped " at the same time. One of the wives hosted, and they spent the rest of the day watching movies and eating junk food with their ice packs.
