Yes, they are. I'm allergic. I break out in a sweat and shake and all that. Usually the allergy is to the casein, but the lactose can be a problem too. V. Guest guest Posted September 18, 2006 Report Share Posted September 18, 2006 I just today read the following in " Raising Vegetarian Children " by Joanne Stepaniak and Vesanto Melina: " It is well known that after the age of four, most people lose, to some extent, their ability to digest lactose. Lactose is also present in human milk.
