Guest guest
In response to the milk mustache ads - I just read this small article in BH & G that says a research done in Seatle followed 10,000 people in their mid-50s up to ten years and found that those who took at least 500mg of calcium supplements a day were less likely to gain weight BUT calcium from dietary sources had NO EFFECT ON WEIGHT. I guess the dairy farmers leave that part out. Also, my local grocery stores do not carry Almond milk, which I'd love to try - we currently drink Vanilla Silk, which we all love, but I like to try new things. Is there a way to make Almond milk at home? Would anyone know a recipe or where to direct me? Thanks - I love this group, so helpful! Guest guest
Hi. I make my almond milk quite easily... Soak about 20 raw almonds over night, next morning peel and rinse them. Put them in the blender with about 8oz cold water and some 100% Pure Maple Syrup (I also add a tbs of flax seed oil), blend for a minute and strain, squeeze all the milk out!! Keep the pulp in the fridge cause it's still good for the next 2 or 3 days, just throw it back in the blender with the rest of the ingredients and blend! You can also sweeten it with honey or stevia. Cheers! , " Laura " <redmountaindragon wrote: > > In response to the milk mustache ads - I just read this small article in BH & G that says a > research done in Seatle followed 10,000 people in their mid-50s up to ten years and found > that those who took at least 500mg of calcium supplements a day were less likely to gain > weight BUT calcium from dietary sources had NO EFFECT ON WEIGHT. Guest guest
Before you go taking lots of calcium supplements, there have been studies linking calcium intake to increased prostrate cancer risk.... For you guys out there.
