If anyone lives near Philadelphia, I recieved this e-mail from an

animal advocacy group near where I live. I thought that someone on

this group might be interested.

URGENT: RESCUED RATS IN NEED OF GOOD HOMES

An animal advocacy group in Philadelphia recently rescued some rats

from a university laboratory (the university agreed to give the rats

to

them after they were done experimenting on them) and they need some

help

in finding these rats good homes. Rats are very inquisitive,

intelligent, and social animals, so an ideal home for a rat is one

where they

have a cage with plenty of room to move around and exercise, where

they

are provided with toys to entertain themselves, and where they are

provided with lots of social interaction and preferably the company

of at

least one other rat of the same sex (rats get lonely without another

rat

companion). If you are interested in adopting a rescued rat or

rats,

please contact hugsforpuppies

I'm all the way in Arizona & already have too many pets, but I can say that

rats really do make great pets. My sister had one she got at the Humane

Society, it ran around the house a lot of the time (lived in a cage for safetly

though) . It even ran up to you when you came in the door, like a dog. I kind

of thought she as crazy when she got it, but they're very friendly!
