Guest guest
I was on a first aid instructors' course last weekend, and in a lesson on heart attack, the trainer went into a little talk on cholesterol. He said that we evolved as hunters. But getting meat was rare. Mostly we ate berries and stuff. So, when we got meat, it was a big deal for our bodies. Cholesterol is the precursor to vitamin D, he said ... and also for other important needs. Because of its importance, our bodies stored up the cholesterol in a very important place -- the heart arteries. People get heart disease now because our bodies still store the cholesterol -- not realising they will get meat again soon, he said. Granted this is an oversimplification. But is there truth to the notion that we NEED cholesterol? I understood that vegans get no cholesterol and do not suffer for it. Thanks in advance for your thoughts. ~Paul -- Save Kyoto! http://www.mackenziewild.ca Exxpose Exxon! http://www.exxposeexxon.com Support Sierra Legal http://www.sierralegal.org Sustainable Maritimes http://list.web.net/lists/listinfo/sust-mar
Guest guest
Our bodies produce cholesterol and there is cholesterol in breastmilk. We don't need to eat it to get enough of it. Eating good fats like Omega 3's helps your body produce more of the good cholesterol and less of the bad. Do I have that right Katie?
