another non-gelatin gel snack option

Based on someone's post on this list, I've been looking (in vain, unfortunately)

for the Dole brand of gel snacks. It's not that I want to have junk food

around, but as we all know, our kids have to function in a world where most or

even all of their friends eat conventional kids' food. It's good to know all of

the possible things one could have at home that wouldn't seem " weird " to those

friends.

 

FWIW, I live in a major metropolitan area and have been unable to find the

Dole version anywhere. But, a friend just brought over something similar she

found on our behalf. I wanted to mention it here in case anyone else is

interested and having the same difficulty finding the other brand.

 

It's the Hunt's brand, which is apparently a ConAgra company (I know, I

know!!): Hunt's Snack Pack gel snacks. It seems that even the strawberry

flavour is safe for vegetarians. Not that I'm thrilled with the list of

ingredients, but it's an option.

 

Strawberry: filtered water, sugar, fruit juice from concentrate (water,

apple, pear, peach, pineapple), less than 2% of: carrageenan, natural and

articficial flavour, adipic acid, citric acid, potassium citrate, carob bean

gum, sodium citrate, red 40.

 

Orange: same, except only natural flavour (not artificial) and there is also

yellow 6.
