My wife and I were surprised to notice, on a bottle of organic flax oil,

a warning that pregnant and nursing moms should not consume it! We were

astonished, having heard much about the benefits of flax oil -- and

having used it throughout the pregnancy and first ten months of our

breastfed daugther's life.

I'll answer this one... generally speaking, any supplement will have those

words, even prenatal vitamins. It's considered a cya (cover your a..) clause.

Nothing can legally be tested on a pregnant woman, thus nothing can ever be

proven safe for a pregnant woman.

Usually the statement says pregnant and nursing moms should consult a dr

before taking.

Flax oil can be a laxative, but that's about the only reason I can see that

caution would really be on there. If you want absolute info- try the pdr or

Hale's " medications and mother's milk " (most of what enters milk will enter the

fetus)
