Guest guest
An expert panel convened by the National Institutes of Health is drafting a report regarding whether exposure to genistein (an isovlavone found in soy products) or soy formula is a hazard to human development or reproduction. It could be helpful for the panel to hear the views of parents who have used soy formula for their children. Time will be set aside for public comments at the expert panel meeting on March 15, 2006 in Alexandria, Virginia. If you live near the Washington D.C. area visit http://cerhr.niehs.nih.gov/news/fedreg/fr12-16-2005.pdf for details on what to do if you want to testify (20 copies of your statement, register between 7:30 and 8:30, etc). A parent testifying would probably not affect their deliberations in terms of science but possibly it could affect the wording of the report. A parent may want to testify focusing on the usefulness of soy products and that, while they want to do what's best for their child, they also don't want to have a nutritious food appear to be dangerous without strong evidence to support this.
