Guest guest
Sorry to be late in answering these questions. I had my two young granddaughters for a few days and have finally recovered and put the house back together in the wake of the twin hurricanes! Christine, I get almost a half gallon of soymilk from 1/2 cup of soybeans. Does it taste " beany " ? I think part of it depends on how much of the bean pulp (okara) you filter out. Talk about " beany " though...I remember drinking EdenSoy about 15 years ago...boy, was it beany then! But I think you can get used to almost anything! I don't have a problem with the taste. I add about 1/4 t. salt and a bit of sweetener, maybe a t. of vanilla or almond extract. I've used it in " cream " soups and my hubby (not vegetarian) doesn't complain. Admartin...yes, the soymilk is smooth. You do need to stir it before using it, as the soybean fiber settles. Again, the degree to which you strain it makes a difference. Regarding the ice cream recipe, it was not posted to the SoyToy group, but rather the creator emailed it to me. I will check with him and ask if can post it here or make his address available. I hope you understand. I hope to have an answer on that soon! Ilene
Guest guest
Ilene, Do use a particular brand of soybeans? I remember reading that " Laura " soybeans were better for making soymilk.
