Guest guest
There's some good news on the U.S. food labeling front. The FDA now requires that the 8 major food allergens, milk, egg, peanuts, tree nuts, fish, shellfish, soy, and wheat, must be clearly identified on all packaged food. Details here: http://www.wholefoodsmarket.com/healthinfo/foodlabelinglaws2006.html What I like best about this new law is that it will expose all the milk derivatives contained in products. As an example, instead of just seeing " sodium caseinate " (a protein derived from milk) we'll see something like " sodium caseinate (milk) " or " Contains milk " . For vegans (and vegan wannabes) this will simplify grocery shopping a bit. - Alan
Guest guest
More importantly it will simplify the lives of those with anaphalactic allergies. My son was anaphalactic to eggs and milk but thankfully grew out of these allergies. It was such a worry that he would accidentally eat something that could kill him.
