Guest guest
I'm with you. I will send out an e-mail today. Carol TheNutritionNut <thenutritionnut wrote: Hi all, Anyone else read the magazine called Natural Health? I just got my copy today in the mail. I am disgusted by an article in there and sent a letter to the editor. I was hoping some of you could look at it in your health food store and write to the editor as well. With this being a " natural " health magazine it has me furious that they put this article in there. There is nothing natural about mass producing and eating cows and it is horrible for the environment. The article is called " The Eco-Conscious Carnivore " and it's on page 37 of their December/January 2006 issue. The subtitle is " A meat-lover's guide to making choices that maximize personal and planetary health. " In a nutshell, this author writes about choosing the " kindest " cuts of beef (already a contradiction). In the beginning she writes " Although the benefits of a mostly vegetarian diet are well established, beef remains the single best source of vitamin b12, a nutrient that's necessary.... " Then they have a sidebar to the article. It's titled " THE KINDEST CUTS " and they describe cuts of meat (organic, grass-fed, etc.). The one that really gets me is the one called " Certified Humane " and they say that this meat " ensures humane treatment of animals. " Huh? The definition of humane, according to Webster's Dictionary is " marked by compassion, sympathy or consideration for humans or animals. " So how can the killing of these cows ever be considered humane? Anyway, if you look at the article and are disgusted as well, or just want to go off of what I have told you, please write the editor via e-mail at remedies. Thanks for reading if you have gotten this far! :-) TNN
Guest guest
I'm going to jump on and write too. I do hope they will publish at least one of our articles so that other readers can benefit from our stance. I'll be revisiting PETA's statement official statement on free range, grass fed, humane certified etc. Nikki , TheNutritionNut <thenutritionnut> wrote: > > Hi all, > > Anyone else read the magazine called Natural Health? Guest guest
Herbivore magazine is another option. It's probably not to everyone's taste, though--kinda irreverent, punk rock attitude. I don't get much out of it now, but I probably would have loved it if it had been around when I was in my early 20s. See: http://www.herbivoreclothing.com/magazine.page.html K , TheNutritionNut <thenutritionnut> wrote: > There are others, although I must say I don't have an opinion on them because I'm not familiar with them. There is Veggie Life (which seems to be all recipes), there is Satya Magazine and I believe the host of this group (VRG) has one as well, don't they? > > Anyone else know of any others? I'd love to find more...
