Guest guest
Carol, obviously the teacher is clueless. You might want to download something from PCRM or vrg. as well. Keep us posted about the next chapter in teacher education. Peace, Laura in MD cpsobczak writes: So, I told my daughter to put down tofu stirfry and that I would write a note to the teacher. I am going to tell her that I would be happy to come in and talk about vegan nutrition.
Guest guest
Hi Carol, I find things like the assingment you mention to be some of the most aggravating aspects of raising vegan kids. That having been said, in my personal experience I've had the most positive results when I take the low key approach rather than going in guns blazing. (This requires that I bite my tongue a lot!!) I'm the " friendly " vegan (or so I'm told ;-) I have the advantage of being able to throw my nutrition credentials (Dietetic Technician Registered, American Dietetic Association member since 1997) in the face of anyone who is not respectful of my position. It usually gets people to pay attention. In the absence of that, arm yourself with ADA's position paper on vegetarian/vegan diets which clearly states if planned properly they are nutritionally adequate. I believe you can access it form www.vrg.org Good luck Katie http://frugalveggiemama.blogspot.com FareChase - Search multiple travel sites in one click.
