Guest guest
In digest #678, Guru Khalsa shared about fiddlehead ferns. ~ i have not been able to find them around here, but ever since reading Stephen King's 'The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon', which was about a young girl who got lost in the Maine woods and ate a lot of fiddleheads, i have wanted to get some to try. When i read the book to my kids they wanted to try some, too. i improvised and used some tender asparagus in a recipe that called for fiddleheads, and we called the dish 'Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon' Salad. It is really good with asparagus, but i sure would love to make it with real fiddleheads one day! *lol* i'll share the recipe in my next post and you can try it for me, k? ~ pt ~ We must try to keep the mind in tranquility. For just as the eye which constantly shifts its gaze, now turning to the right or to the left, now incessantly peering up or down, cannot see distinctly what lies before it, but the sight must be fixed firmly on the object in view if one would make his vision of it clear; so too man's mind when distracted by his countless worldly cares cannot focus itself distinctly on the truth. ~ St. Basil the Great (330?-379)
