I thought curry was a mix of herbs,

Curry is both a plant and a mixture of spices. All Indian families used to have

(and many still do) their own spice mixtures. Often times curry leaf was

included. The British ruled India for quite a while. In their efficienty, they

decided to put many of these herbs together so they wouldn't hav to mix them all

the time and thus we have curry powder.
