Guest guest
Hello again John, Once again, thank you for all your helpful advice. I have an appointment with my GP on Friday. So far I have been totally underwhelmed by the complete absence of advice provided by either the doctor or the so called diabetic care nurse to whom the doctor referred me. I have always been the sort of person who 'accepted' rather than 'complained' but now is the time to step out of character. I am aware that my health issues are extremely important and I am no longer prepared to accept second best (or worse) advice. I think that you are right John, I will ask for a referral to a specialist. A Dutch friend of mine who is a clinic nurse for a GP has told me that the chance of getting the costs of the test equipment covered by health insurance is virtually zero. I am not on insulin and therefore I am not considered sufficiently 'at risk' to qualify for testing equipment. I checked out the website you mentioned and followed quite a few of the links. This is a practical and easy to understand website and I intend to look at it again in the near future. Thank you for the link. I did a Google search on GI and found quite a useful site which allows you to check the GI and GI value of any food you type in. Here is the link http://www.glycemicindex.com/ It seems to be a very useful resource. Cheers for now from Marie
