Guest guest
I use an electric steamer. I used to make rice in the bamboo steamer. You have to soak your rice for 6 to 8 hours, drain and place in a large piece of cheese-cloth and place in steamer. I stopped using the bamboo steamer as it picks up flavors, I also read they are hard to keep clean and there's a possibility of bacteria. This is so much easier now that I use the rice cooker. I use 1 cup rice and 2 1/2 cups water and it's perfect. I usually buy the brown California short grain but the long grain is fine. Are these electric rice cookers? I have a bamboo steamer but haven't used it for rice yet. Anyone have some tips on using it with rice? I assume I need to line the bottom with lettuce leaves but haven't looked into it yet.
