Guest guest
i was reading the posts in digest #606 and the subject of using coffee grinders for spices caught my eye. Some of you have enjoyed the discovery of the addition of flavors certain spices can impart to the next batch of ground coffee you do. That is a fun thing i also enjoy. My favorites are cinnamon, nutmeg, and cardamom. Also mentioned were ideas for cleaning the flavor out of the coffee grinder. The best thing i have found to clean mine out is to take a piece of bread, break it up into chunks to fit in the well of the coffee grinder and give a few pulses. You can then dump them out for composting or just trash them. The bread seems to get the little bitties out of the grinder very well so your next batch of ground coffee will be free of added flavorings. ::: coffee mug salute ::: ~ pt ~ I wandered lonely as a cloud That floats on high o'er vales and hills, When all at once I saw a crowd, A host, of golden daffodils; Beside the lake, beneath the trees, Fluttering and dancing in the breeze. -Ê William Wordsworth, Daffodils
Guest guest
thanks for the bread tip! i've got another: flax seeds! as many of you probably know you get the most nutrition out of flax seeds when they're ground up -- they're awesome for cleaning every last bit of coffee in that grinder. i run a batch when i make bread, so my bread has just a wee bit of coffee in it, nice when i'm going for a mocha type of flavor -- great when making pumpernickel bread. -- http://www.stefoodie.net http://www.noodlesandrice.com (with b5media) http://www.beyondadobo.com On 3/22/06, ~ PT ~ <patchouli_troll wrote: > > i was reading the posts in digest #606 and the subject > of using coffee grinders for spices caught my eye. > Some of you have enjoyed the discovery of the addition > of flavors certain spices can impart to the next batch of > ground coffee you do. Guest guest
Hi...I bought a coffee grinder at the Big Lots store. I use it exclusively for grinding spices...it cost me $10.00. I have a " better " one for grinding my coffee. Joanie
