Guest guest
My 11 year old is practically vegetarian, she likes meatless burritos w/lots of guacamole, cilantro & lime, spaghetti, yogurt, edamame, cheese and crackers, and she is a carb queen. She's never met a potato she doesn't like. Not exactly parent-enticing fare, but pretty easy to work around. She is starting to like the milder kimchees in a lettuce wrap. And she loves California roll. Javanese Pile-up dinner is popular too. Anything she can use chopsticks with she likes. Good luck! Guest guest
I have gotten a little off track and need help! We decided to become vegetarian last year for health reasons and were striving to prepare meals that would be appealing to the whole family. I have a tendency to go crazy over all these new, exciting, flavorful recipes that my husband and I LOVE, and then I end up making things my kids won't eat! I'm hoping people here who have small kids (AKA the picky ages) can share what works for their kids, what meals they like and ask for. I'm especially looking for people who have not always fed their kids vegetarian or vegan foods and have successfully switched from an omni diet. A lot of people point me toward The Vegan Lunch Box, and although her food is amazing, my kids put most of her food in the " NO WAY " category Thanks for the help! Guest guest
I had trouble weaning my husband to the veggie life, and made the transition using " analog " meats, Smart Dogs instead of hot dogs, Yves Veggie Ground Round, Frieda's Soy Taco, etc. You can make chili, sloppy joes, tacos, etc. and they may not even know it's not " real. " Also, I found soups could be made without substituting anything - a good veggie minestrone, salad and crusty bread makes a great meal. Add a fruit smoothie, and the kids should be happy.
