Guest guest
One of the nurses in my ped's office gave me this recipe once to save me a trip to the drugstore in the middle of the night. Saved me a bunch of $$ over the years too. It doesn't taste great because it doesn't have the flavoring in it, but it is the same thing. 1 Quart water 1/4 tsp salt 1 Tblsp sugar She did say it is very important not to mess with the measurements by adding more or less of anything. Start with 1 Tbsp, if the child (or whoever) keeps it down 15 minutes give another. Gradually increase the amount by tablespoons as long as he/she continues to tolerate it. Guest guest
AmyF, I sent this along to family and friends. I was sure one could make their own *Pedialyte* but wasn't sure of the correct amts. I advised them to make this at the first sign of vomiting and diarreha, store it in the fridge and have on hand just in case. I also gave the instructions of 1 tablespoon as tolerated. I did reccomend that the water be either purified/boiled water. Dehydration can happen so quickly. I also advised that if this " Pedialyte " recipe was not used within a weeks time it should be thrown away. After the vomiting and diarreha has stopped I used what we called the B.R.A.T diet(lol). Bananas(very ripe),Rice(well cooked), Applesauce and Tea(non caffeine) Caffeine robs the body of needed moisture. I don't know how medically sound this recovery diet is but it sure works. Guest guest
My daughters doctor gave the diet to her when she would get the flu. Although the " T " was for toast and not tea. Make sure the toast is dry, no jelly, butter or margarine. The object of the diet is to " solidify " things back up and be easy on the tummy. genny_y2k <genny_y2k wrote: AmyF, I sent this along to family and friends.
