Some good ideas are coming forward as items we might want to store in

case of a weather/flu disaster.

Maybe these can be added to a file for everyone to check

occasionally .

Food

Water

High energy foods such as peanut butter, other nut butters, nuts,

trail mix, granola bars

All types of canned beans including refried beans, vegetables and fruit

(any that can be eaten directly from the can)

Crackers and cookies

Instant mashed potatoes

TVP

Dried fruit including rasins

Soy protein powder

Vegetable Bouillon Cubes

Herbal teas (non caffeine.( Caffeine robs water from your body)

Sugar, salt, herbs and spices.

Equipment

manual can opener(a must if there is no electricty)

Sharp knife

paper plates, cups and disposable utensils(in case there is a shortage

of water for washing dishes)

Toilet paper

Plastic bags for human waste and garbage

First Aid Kit

Vitamins,over the counter medicine,prescribed meds

Anti bacterial hand cleaner(can be used when water is scarce)

Baby wipes

Personal hygiene items

Please feel free to add to this list as you think of them

There will be personal family needs that you will want to add to your

own list.

Some experts say that you should have enough emergency food, etc. for

3 days in case of a natural disaster such as a hurricane, etc.

In the case of the Avian/Bird flu it is being suggested that you have

enough supplies to last for 3-6 months.

I filed this, and added prescription drugs..

which would include supplies for contact lense wearers as well...
