Hi,

I think ajwan or ajwain seeds are also called

carom seeds which might be more available.

Sounds like they are closer to cumin than

oregano though. However I'm not really

familiar with ajwan so I'm just basing that

statement on what I read below. Hope this helps.

" Ajwain Seed

A small seed similar in appearance to caraway

seeds that is used as a spice in Indian and Middle

Eastern cooking. Pungent, spicy and bitter in flavor,

this seed is often considered to have value as a

food containing medicinal properties that help to

soothe stomach discomfort or indigestion. It is

often mixed into vegetables dishes, fish dishes,

dals, chutneys, curry dishes, and breads. It is

also a common ingredient in some varieties of

Garam Masala. Ajwain seed may also be referred

to as bishop's weed, carum capticum, carom seed,

ajowan, ajwon, or ajwan. "

" Nirav Ajwan (Carom) Seeds

Ajwan / Ajwain seeds are also known as carom

seeds. They look and smell much like cumin seeds.

Don't be fooled, ajwain seeds are pungent, peppery

hot and bitter. Ajwain compliments dals, breads and

root vegetables. They also contain an antiseptic

that comfort diarrhea and stomach pains. "

" The small, caraway-like fruits. These are sometimes

mislabelled as lovage seed, although the fruits of

lovage are, to my knowledge, not traded at all. "
