Guest guest
Wow ! I got some bargains this week. Pkg. of organic Romanine Lettuce (3 bunches to a pkg.) for $2. Trouble is I get tired of it before it is gone. But learned to cut a piece off the stalks and soak in cold water and it crisps up again. I normall do not buy packaged greens but my favorite store had organic baby spinach and salad greens for $2 apiece. That is an excellent buy for this time of the year. Organic Broccoli, Cauliflower and Cabbage were on sale for two for $5 which was darn expensive but makes at least 3 meals per veggie. I always have canned organic beans, etc.,dried fruit, pasta and rice on hand so if nothing is on sale I eat what I have in the cupboards. I have a tiny freezer so no longer cook and freeze. I used to do that often really saves money. Now I do cook big recipes and share with my daughter's family. Some things are just plain luxuries like nuts, so I watch and buy only when they are on sale. Talked to a friend who lives on a Carribean island and can you imagine she picks Mangos off her trees. Sigh...I remember when we lived in Cali and could go pick the fields for free after harvest. Can't wait for the farmer's market to open..We are starting to see some organic things.
