Guest guest
For some recipes, sauces and pastes try a quick browse through the Asian folder in our recipe file. The Chinese 5 Star Spice can be very pungent so this is what I do for a stir fry sauce. Try to buy your spice from the Asian store as it's much more flavorful, use a little less at first in this recipe since you might not care for the flavor, remember it has star anise in it and there is a slight licorice flavor. I love licorice so I probably don't notice it as much as others would. I have all my multi veggies chopped up, I heat the wok on a high heat with a little olive oil and a dash of seame oil. Just before the veggies are done but still crunchy I add this mixture: 1/4 cup vegetable broth 1 tbl. seasoned rice vinegar (dash more if desired) 1/2 tsp. Chinese 5 Star Spice 1 heaping tbl. low sodium soy sauce 1 1/2 tsps. cornstarch 2 or 3 cloves of garlic, pressed I blend this together and use at the end. It will thicken as you stir fry for another minute. When the dish is done I toss with toasted black sesame seeds in or toasted slivered almonds. Hope this was of some help and welcome in here with us! Donna --- Guru Khalsa <greatyoga wrote: > > > Does anyone have any good recipes for Chinese stir > fries?
