Guest guest
Just have to tell you all, with your talk about 2 classes in a room because the school in Bronson, MO had all 12 grades in the same building...Several years ago my daughter and I were driving through central Georgia when we passed the school I attended in the 3-4 grades and having heard it was a museum then decided to go in. It was hard to stop laughing because the room I was in for 4th grade had been turned into a museum with the door caption saying it was what the school room look liked in the Civil War...but I was in school there in 1943-44 and it was just like then, too. We need to remember what to be grateful for and when it too place. Luanne
Guest guest
Luanne, The little two room school where I started is still there. 1-6 in one room and the rest in the other. And we all shared the same out- house.Teachers actually made children wear a paper dunce cap if they were naughty. That would have been in 1946 when I started first grade. No such thing as kindergarten. When I was older we would go to the irrigation ditch during recess, take off our shoes and dig for crawdads. Can you imagine kids doing those things today?
