Just have to tell you all, with your talk about 2 classes in a room

because the school in Bronson, MO had all 12 grades in the same

building...Several years ago my daughter and I were driving through

central Georgia when we passed the school I attended in the 3-4 grades

and having heard it was a museum then decided to go in. It was hard

to stop laughing because the room I was in for 4th grade had been

turned into a museum with the door caption saying it was what the

school room look liked in the Civil War...but I was in school there in

1943-44 and it was just like then, too. We need to remember what to

be grateful for and when it too place.

Luanne,

The little two room school where I started is still there. 1-6 in one

room and the rest in the other. And we all shared the same out-

house.Teachers actually made children wear a paper dunce cap if they

were naughty. That would have been in 1946 when I started first

grade. No such thing as kindergarten. When I was older we would go to

the irrigation ditch during recess, take off our shoes and dig for

crawdads. Can you imagine kids doing those things today?
