Guest guest
She said it's really easy. Tamale Masa 3/4 cup shortening 6 cups masa harina 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder little less than 2 teaspoons salt water or vegetable broth in a can or the kind you make AIn a bowl stir the masa harina, baking powder and salt. In another bowl beat the shortening for 1 or 2 minutes to make it fluffed up. Now add a little masa mixture to the shortening and beat and then some broth and beat and then keep doing this until all the masa harina is added. Keep beating and add broth until you get a thick creamy paste. Now it will be ready to spread on corn husks. You spread 2 tablespoons. Tell me any questions and I will ask her for you. Guest guest
Paul, Thanks to you and your sister. I can't wait to try these. A challenge for an Anglo raised in a traditional rural country home but I love Mexican food especially Tamales. I even found a perfect deep stainless steamer at a garage sale and it will be perfect. >
