Guest guest
Seems like a lot of work, but it's not. Tempe Rubin sandwiche Rye bread aprox 1/3 to 1/2 slab tempe cut into 1/4 inch slices - short ways sauerkraut swiss cheese. animal renet free, or vegan style russian dressing napkins Place the sliced tempe in a oiled fry pan on med high heat. Saute until golden brown on both sides. Set on paper towels to drain off excess oil. Discard any left over oil. Lightly butter, and yes I use butter, or lightly coat with mayo or salad dressing the rye bread. Dont use tofu mayo, it wont work. Place one slice of the cheese on the bread, then the fried tempe, the sauerkraut, the dressing, and one more slice of cheese on top of all this yummy mess. Top with the other slice of bread and toast it up like a grilled cheese sandwiche. I place a lid on the pan to ensure this gets hot all the way through. If you like you can marinade the tempe before frying in cool veggie broth....pat dry before frying.
