Raspberry Wine I am not much of a wine drinker so I am not real familiar

with it but I bought Arbor Mist Exotic Fruits White Zinfandel and it tastes

fine I also doubled the sauce recipe because I made brown rice to go with

the tofu and that made enough to drizzle over the rice thanks so much for

Re: **RECIPE** , Sesame tofu for Samantha

OK, The recipe is long, but it is easy and once the tofu is prepped, it

only takes a few minutes. I serve it with jasmine rice if I have it and

basmatti if I don't. A simple green salad with ginger dressing and some

french bread makes it a really special meal. I think I will make it for my

sweety for valentines day! I think I may have posted it before, but I am

not sure. I hope you enjoy it.

Sesame Tofu

Ingredients

2 packages of extra firm tofu, frozen and then thawed with all the excess

moisture squeezed out.

2 tablespoons raw sesame seeds

2 green onions, thinly sliced

Marinade

1 teaspoon vegetable broth

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon sesame oil

growne white pepper to taste

1/4 teaspoon sugar

1 tablespoon raspberry wine or any fruity red wine

Batter

1/2 cup flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1 egg, beaten

1/2 cup water (or as much as you need to make a smooth batter)

3 tablespoons cornstarch

salt to taste

1 tablespoon vegetable oil

Sauce

3 tablespoons honey

2 tablespoons sugar

salt to taste

2 tablespoons ketchup

1 tablespoon white or red wine vinegar

a sprinkle of ground black pepper.

Step 1

Mix all the marinade ingredients in a blass bowl and mix well. Cut tofu

into 1 inch chunks and add to marinade. Cover and let sit for 30 minutes in

the refrigerator.

Step 2

Heat oil in a deep fryer to 350*. or in a wok on the stove to 325*. While

the tofu is marinading, in a seperate bowl, combine all of the batter

ingredients and mix thoroughly. Batter should be thick enough to coat the

pieces, but thin enough to flow around them.

Step 3

Using a fork or tongs, remove the pieces of tofu from the marinade and dip,

one by one, into the batter. Deep fry in batches of about 12 pieces for

about 10 minutes until until grolder brown. Drain on paper towels.

Step 4

In your wok or a sauce pan, combine sause ingredients and warm over medium

heat. Bring to a boil while stirring and simmer until sauce thickens. Add

the tofu chunks to the hot sauce and stir very gently to coat the pieces.

Transfer to a serving dish and garnish with the sliced scallions and the

sesame seeds.

You know what? I was looking for a good recipe to make into " hot wings. " I love

hot wings and miss them so much since turning vegetarian. I'll bet that I could

make this recipe but substitute hot wing sauce for this sauce and it would be

GREAT.

I am so glad you liked it. The first time I made it I did not have any wine

either, I used raspberry pomegranate juice and it was fine. It just needs the

fruity taste and the wine gives it that and a little boost besides, I am glad

the zimfandel works.
