This recipe was shared by JoOhio back in 2002

 

This gravy is fast to prepare and has an excellent flavor. Nice recipe to

have on hand if a loaf comes out too dry...just smother it in gravy!

 

Mushroom Gravy

 

2 cloves garlic, minced

4 1/2 cups water

Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

1 medium onion, chopped

8 oz. pkg. mushrooms, chopped fine

3 Tbs. Tamari

5 tsp. cornstarch dissolved in 1/4 cup water (will need more than this to

thicken...double, tripled?..keep adding in increments until it's the right

consistency)

Per your own taste: Vegetable seasoning granules to bring it up to flavor

 

In medium saucepan, heat water, add onion and garlic and cook, stirring

often, until onion is soft, about 5 minutes. Add mushrooms and cook,

stirring often, until they begin to release their juices. Add water, Tamari

and cornstarch, dissolved in water. Stir continuously and simmer until

thickened slightly, about 10 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
