Guest guest
Here is a recipe that David shared with the group back in 2002. Basic gravy (vegetarian): Use one third to half a tube of " Gimme Lean " burger in a large frying pan with a liberal amount of olive oil - breaking the burger up with a fork. If you like onions, chop up a small yellow or white (or half a medium-sized onion). After the burger is cooked well - add crushed garlic (you can buy it in a jar) but do not let it burn. Add lots of water and continue cooking at a medium to med.high heat. Add italiian herbs, garlic and onion powder (cumin and celery seed optional). Next pour about one forth cup of soy sauce in (less if you use barley or white miso) and more olive oil as needed. Bring this up to a slow boil and add nutritional yeast liberally (its good for you). Have a taste before you add thickener... add more soy sauce if not salty enough for gravy. If you cooked organic potatoes, use the water instead of tap water for more nutrients. Next, mix two heaping tbsps of corn starch or wheat flour in a cup of cold water and slowly add to mix - just use enough to get a desirable thickness. Remember it will get thick quickly so turn down the heat at stir well -unless you like it lumpy LOL. Gravy is delicious over burgers, potatoes, rice, and even whole grain bread! be well, David *
