Guest guest
Welcome Connie! As you begin contemplating this lifestyle and way toward a more healthier you, please try something that I have used often on my own path - that is to be gentle with yourself. There are many rewards in becoming raw, a few challenges and lots of support with in the RF Community. There is also a LOT of information and MANY different philosophies or styles of raw dietary advice - I needed to remind myself to take what I needed and leave the rest. I also needed to listen to my own intuition about what is right for me in the moment. That being said, I used to weigh in around 300#, last year I contemplated having surgery - didn't want to even think about it really although I did discuss it with my daughter and my doctor. I decided not to - I had lost some weight and was weighing in around 240#. I decided to just be healthier right where I was. I ate more fruits and vegies - until I was waiting in a book store in VA Beach on my birthday and thumbed through a couple of raw food books, one by Paul Nison and one by Victoria Butenko (sp?). That's all it took for me and I became a 100% Raw Vegan right then. I would be happy to discuss any issues or concerns you have - or to share more about my process or stories, since I've been there and done it. Just email me off post. This morning I weigh in at 167#! OMGosh - I wieghed 165 in 6th Grade. You can imagine the excitement in my bathroom this morning. I don't weigh myself very often, I'm not hooked to the scales and I am aware that waist measurements are often a better guide for size/health - whatever. I want to see the numbers sometimes and it's only one guide along my path. Losing wieght was a bi-product of my practicing toward my goal of living a healthier life. And I am happy that it has been. Simply & Sincerely, Lesa PS I've just begun keeping a daily blog of my meals as I've been asked numberous times to share, if you request the address I'll be happy to share
Guest guest
Hi, I am new to this group and going vegan. I have mostly vegetarian for awhile, but i am now ready to go all the way..lol My question is, where is a good place to start? There are so many products out there in the whole food stores, and it can be overwhelming to a beginner. Can someone recommend a good basic website or book to get me started? thanks mindy
