Guest guest
Here goes a simple rice and bean recipe. Easy, cheap, tasty and nutritious. .. 1 big can cooked red beans .. 1 cup rice .. 3 cups water .. 1 medium onion, diced .. 2 tblspoons olive oil .. 1 pinch of salt .. 1 bayleaf .. herbs de provence Into a saucepan put the onions, oil and bayleaves. Let it cook until fragrant and translucent, stirring frequently. Don't let it get brown. Add the beans. Let it cook a minute or two, stirring frequently. Add the salt and the water, let it come to a boil. Add the rice, previously washed. Stir. Let it come to boil again, stir and let it cook for 5 min. Reduce the heat Let it cook on low heat for another 5 min. Turn of the heat and let it stand for a nother 5 min. It is not supposed to be dry, so dont let it overcook. Serve it with a salad and Enjoy! --- On Sat, 6/21/08, Alex Burgess <droogmeister wrote: Alex Burgess <droogmeister Introduction Saturday, June 21, 2008, 11:20 PM Hi Group, I decided to become a vegetarian at the beginning of the year. I really need to learn how to make simple vegetarian dishes that don't cost a bundle and can be prepared with relative ease. I'm particularly interested in dishes that don't require too many ingredients. The simpler, the better. The cheaper, the better. I am to cooking as oil is to water. A bit overstated, but you catch my drift. I need to concentrate on fiber, protein, etc. I am looking forward to many good recipes. Thank you, Dan
