Guest guest
Source > http://buzz./buzz_log/?fr=fp-buzz-more And you thought Canada was the land of bland: totally, 100%, buzz-free. Well, you're right. Except for two small words on many northerners' lips each year — " seal hunt. " That seemingly innocent phrase incites an all-claws-bared fight over the treatment of Canada's native marine mammal, and kicks up a snarl of searches online. The annual cull of harp seals along Canada's Atlantic coast drew the usual throng of officials, sealers, and protestors last weekend. The Canucks were helped along in the brawl and Buzz department by an ex-Beatle, a " Baywatch " blonde (who's really from British Columbia), and an iconic French bombshell. Paul McCartney (+19%), Pamela Anderson (+8%), and Brigitte Bardot all showed up for the tussle. Naturally, McCartney and Anderson spiked in Search. They only have to flex a muscle, and they spike in Search. But it was Brigitte Bardot who dashed into our top five movers. News of her Ottawa anti-fur appearance sent searches on her name up 738%. When Canadian Prime Minster Stephen Harper turned down meetings with both Bardot and Anderson, even he spiked. Searches for " seal hunt, " " animal rights, " and " peta " also leapt, as they surely will every year that sealer meets seal on the Canadian ice floes.
