Guest guest
Hello Everyone I have been trying out vegetarianism for 5 days now. There is no doubt that I feel better. However, I don't think that I am getting enough protein. HEres is my diet. Meal 1 Granola, skim milk, banana, yogurt Meal 2 Protein Shake, fruit, flax seed Meal 3 2 Garden Burger, 2 pieces Whole wheat toast, Mushrooms and Zuchinni (spelling) on the side Meal 4 Protein Shake, fruit, flax seed Meal 5 4 eggs (2 yolks), Cheese, Mushrooms g/r peppers. 2 small Redskin potatoes, 1 can black beans Meal 6 Bakers Drive Thru (daily for 5 days now) 1 Boca Burger, 1 cheeze Quesadilla All of this is supplemented with 0.5-0.75 of a gallon of Milk per Day. I am working up to a gallon a day. I have worked out for 3 years and have gained ~30lbs in the process. I am currently 209lbs the Goal is 225 within 2006. I like the idea of vegetarianism, but i don't know if I can accomplish my fitness goals without eating animals. WHAT I NEED IS NOT RECIPIES, BUT A RESOURCE For Knowing what foods to buy. I can figure out how to cook it, but WHAT DO I COOK? Thank you very much. any help is greatly appreciated. JASON K
Guest guest
Hi Jason, You can defintately achieve your fitness goals even on a veg diet it will just be a little harder. I'm a personal trainer and know of many vegetarian body builders. A good measurement for you would be 1-1.2 grams of protein per lb of body weight. Now what will be tough for you use is obtaining animal protein vs plant protein. So you must keep taking your protein shakes " Whey protein " especially. I would also invest in amino acid tablets as well. If you want to build lean body weight then you must continue to take in quality protein and carbohydrates. Find out your reg caloric intake for each day, and then up it accordingly until you reach your desired body weight. During this process continue to do 20-30min cardio sessions 3-4times a week and again seek out quality foods. It may be hard to reach 225 within a year with out it being mostly fat, but anything is possible if you work hard enough. I also don't know your routine but you really should be lowering your reps and increasing your weight if you want to build bigger muscles and thus increase body weight. Doing high rep workouts burns fat and body weight which will hamper your body weight goals of 225. Anyhow this was brief but good luck. If you would like to talk more get back to me at.. upstarttraining take care.
