Protest Canada's Seal Hunt at the Canadian Consulate

in LA !

 

Dear Supporters,

 

Given your past support of our Protect Seals campaign,

I thought you would be interested in this

demonstration that one of our LA-area supporters is

organizing for Valentine's Day at the LA Canadian

Consulate.

 

Valentine's Day, Tuedsay, February 14, 2006

Here is some backround info:

 

The seals need your help. In 2005, members of Canada's

fishing community killed over 300,000 seals, the vast

majority babies under three months of age, for their

skins for the fashion industry. Unfortunately, plans

are under way for another hunt in 2006. The seals are

clubbed or shot, but don't necessarily die quickly. A

veterinary report in 2001 estimated that of the seal

cases studied during one hunt, more than 40% of the

animals were skinned alive. This, the largest

commercial slaughter of marine mammals anywhere, will

continue unless we can persuade Canada to stop it.

 

Please help us protest this needless suffering.
