We'd gone veggie when I was about 36, knowing we were unhealthy from all the cholesterol we were chunking down prior to that. And yes, it's helped a lot. I remain 100 lbs overweight, though; vegetarian does not necessarily equal fewer calories. My entire family is vegetarian, and my youngest has been so for all but the first couple years of his life.
