Guest guest
I finally got that recipe for the little " meat " pies that my mother- in-law makes every Christmas. It is quite easy and quick, actually. Here are her directions: Brown the equivalent of about a pound of ground " meat " in a little oil. Stir in a package of dry LIPTON onion soup mix (Campbell's is made with beef stock, Lipton's isn't) and a package of shredded Cheddar cheese, either dairy or soy. Mix well, stirring constantly until cheese is melted. Roll out canned biscuits (or homemade biscuit dough) to make flat 6-8 pie shells. Place about a teaspoon of the meat mixture in the center of each. Fold over and seal edges. Place on greased cookie sheet and bake at 350 about 10-15 minutes, until light brown. This makes about 40. These are GREAT! Even the meat-eaters loved them and could not tell the difference!

Guest guest
40? That is great. Thanks Virgil. i love recipes like this that can fool the meat folks; not so much to trick them, but to show them that they can eat veggie and not miss the meat so much if they will try new things. i have never liked meat so i don't know what that is like, to miss the flavor. But i understand it is a concern for some people as they begin to transition to a vegetarian or mostly vegetarian diet. Some of the meat substitute foods are too close for my palate. ~ pt ~ Being full in terms of physical sensations -- sounds, smells, tastes and feelings -- is to be full of worldly food; but being filled with the highest joy -- which comes from a peaceful mind free from the disturbance of sense-object -- is to be full of the food of the Dhamma. ~ Ajahn Buddhadasa ~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~~~> , " Virgil " <cybergypsy1964> wrote: > I thought I posted that part.
