Cooked merely means a chemical change is induced in the food. Even food ripening on the vine is " cooking " . As for the Essenes, you're right, we know next to nothing about them and even if we did, so what? Are they the paragon of cults? All they were is a persecuted cult of Jews who ran and hid in caves; grow up and out of such clinging and look at the EVIDENCE.
