Guest guest
>Is it possible to buy gelatin free " jello " ? Not jello brand gelatin, at least not to my knowledge. jello is not vegetarian. However, I think there are gelatin substitutes but I have never personally tried them. Here's a recipe using agar agar I just found. <http://www.fatfree.com/recipes/desserts/vegetarian-jello> " You can make a vegetarian jello at home that tastes better than jello brand ever did. vegetarian jello 4 tablespoons agar agar flakes (kanten) 1 quart fruit juice bring to a boil, simmer for 5 minutes. Pour into a dish, add fruits if you like. Chill It is really quite wonderful and perfect for this summer weather. " Also there seems to be something called SuperFruits by Hain that is supposed to be a vegetarian jello. Guest guest
The Hain superfruits stuff is amazing. I am a jello freak and when I found out what it was made of, and became veggie I was utterly devistated. The only drawback to the hain stuff is it doesn't seem to set really well, but I don't mind Side note, when you are having stomach flu problems (or hung over) drinking warm " jello " (or in my case the Hain stuff) is a great fix. It fixes me everytime I am sick to the stomach so that I can eat soon and keep the food down. ~melissa --- Gary Mattingly <gsmattingly wrote: > >Is it possible to buy gelatin free " jello " ? > > Not jello brand gelatin, at least not to my > knowledge. > jello is not vegetarian. > > However, I think there are gelatin substitutes but > I have never personally tried them.
