Guest guest
Hello Ashena and group, I have been reading and gaining knowledge from the posts here. Thank you for inviting me to your group. This question caught my eye since I do not like the burgers that taste like real meat. One that tastes a lot like hamburger is made by Bocca Burger. You can find it in most grocery stores, ie Walmart etc. I used to really like Morningstar Farms burgers but lately they have been making some of them taste more like Bocca Burgers. I used to like the grillers and still use them, but they are not as good as they first were, IMO. Give Bocca Burgers a try, some meat eating men in my family actually tolerated them. I recently moved to south east Missouri from south west Michigan and everything here is pork. They have restaurants that only sell pork sandwiches, and nothing else. Any one out there have a good substitute for pork and sauerkraut? Kind regards, Jo (joannolivia) Eating no meat, no fish, no fowl, I eat very few eggs, lots of milk products and cheese in addition to veggies and fruits, bread, pasta etc. , " the_wacked_witch " <the_wacked_witch> wrote: <...I've tried veggie burgers and the only thing I could think > was BLAH!! that does not taste like a burger!....are there > vegetarian meats out there that really taste like meat? Kind regards, Jo (joannolivia) > Well, I have a substitute... I have used the White Wave chicken- style seitan. Just tear it up in pieces and mix it in a crockpot with a bag of sauerkraut. Cook on low only a couple of hours, until nice and hot. Served with mashed potatoes, my meat-eating husband says it is a reasonably good substitute. He's a sauerkraut and pork fan. I have to agree, it's not bad. cheryll
